No one is more artful than a writer avoiding their writing.
Most of us overbook our calendars, promise ourselves we'll tackle our drafts eventually, and throw around phrases like "To write is to live!" without ever actually writing.
The inescapable truth is that writing, like any other craft, requires time and practice.
Which is why, this month (and every month from here), we’ll be dedicating two hours of writing, at our first IRL NYC meeting since 2020. Nothing fancy! Just a formula that works: a committed time to write plus a community to write with.
We’re excited to meet at Lofty Pigeon Books in Kensington, Brooklyn on Thursday, February 22nd (6-8 PM EST). Bring the story you've been neglecting or write something based on one of our prompts.
Our Writing Guide for the month is Audre Lorde (happy early birthday). We’ll read some of her work and share a little about her process to get inspired. Then, we’ll move on to our own. At the end, we’ll regroup to share and discuss. So easy!
RSVPs are required and limited. If you can no longer make our meeting, please update your RSVP to make space for other writers.
